Using old plastic bottles to make fashion – why would anyone do that?
It’s very simple: because we can!
And because it protects the environment! After all, synthetic fibers like polyester, polyamide, elastane and acrylic all contain crude oil. To conserve this resource and to avoid waste, for example, PET bottles can be recycled.
Compared to the use of virgin polyester, this reduces CO2 emissions by 80% and works as follows: the empty plastic bottles are fished out of the sea and collected, shredded and then turned into pellets. Next the melted-down pellets are spun into yarn from which fabrics are knitted or woven. Those are used to make the final garments.
This means that 25 old PET bottles can be transformed into a KNOWLEDGE COTTON APPAREL jacket.
Crazy, isn’t it?
